MORE INFORMATION:
In the 1880s there were two wooden pavilions over the springs "Joseph" and "John". In 1923 they were thoroughly rebuilt and the present pump room was erected. The building situated in the middle of the park is covered by a hipped roof with a dome and lit by stylish lanterns. The spring called "Joseph" was originally named "Dudzik's spring" after its owner. When in 1880 the spring was purchased by the Spa Board, it received a new name in honor of Dr. Joseph Merunowicz (then head of the Department of Sanitary Governorship in Lviv) who cared for the development of Krynica. The name of the second spa is connected with the person of the former bathing attendant named Jan, who used to bring water from an unused spring to patients taking mud treatments. ""Joseph"" has a diuretic effect, weakly choleretic, curative in anemia, generally strengthening.
